Do you have a shop?
No, we operate out of a lovely converted barn on the Bedfordshire/Buckinghamshire border. By offering just an online, telephone and mail order service, we keep the overheads down as much as we can and the prices as low as possible. Obviously we can't compete with some of the large supermarket chains on their bulk ordering but we aim to offer you a much more personal service and comprehensive range than they do. And we welcome any suggestions you may have for items you'd like to see included.
How long do I have to wait for delivery?
Normally we say just 3-5 working days, which allows us time to process the order and ship it out to you. However, because we purchase a lot of our produce fresh from Denmark on a weekly basis, despite our best efforts we can't always promise every item will be in stock. Also during busy periods and special promotions, we can occasionally under-estimate how popular some items will be. If this is the case, we will always let you know and get your order to you as soon as we can.
Do you deliver on a Saturday?
It is possible to have items delivered at the weekend but it is usually at an extra cost. If this is a requirement, please let us know and we will obtain a price for you from our courier. By and large, by Saturday 12 noon, it costs £35 to an address in mainland Britain and more elsewhere, so not really recommended. That said, we have been know to send packages in taxis if the order is urgent!
Do you stock all your items all year round?
Staple items yes. These are the ones on our normal printed price list. But we also like to bring in seasonal items and special campaigns, as and when our suppliers in Denmark make them available to us. We are constantly looking into the food market in Scandinavia.
How long does it take for you to get fresh items delivered from Denmark?
We usually have a weekly delivery and, as long as our supplier has the product in stock, we can quickly get things out to you.
Your postage and packing cost seems a little high on a small order. Couldn't you simply use Royal Mail instead of a courier?
If the order is light enough and you feel your items would be safe to send via Royal Mail, we are more than happy to get a price from them for delivery. However, in our experience, it is usually quicker and more secure to send them by our courier service. We appreciate that £5.00 may seem a little high on a small order but we do not actually make a profit on this part of our service, we merely cover our costs.
If I am not going to be in, can I leave instructions for the parcel to be left somewhere safe?
Yes certainly. Our couriers will leave the parcel wherever you instruct. We would always recommend it is out of sight of passers-by though. Many people leave them with neighbours or even their local shop.
Can I come and collect my order?
Yes, you are very welcome to do so. In fact, we have a number of people in the surrounding area who pop in regularly. Please make an appointment one day in advance beforehand so we can ensure your order is ready and waiting for you when you arrive.
Can you send my order to my work address?
Yes, as long as you are there to accept the delivery or can nominate someone to sign for it on your behalf. Our couriers are happy to leave packages with company receptionists, as long as they know it has been requested.
Do you deliver abroad?
We can send your items any European addresses but there are some restrictions. For example, chilled goods and fresh products.
Can I track my order?
We mainly use Interlink Express for deliveries who allocate a consignment number to each order. We can either track this for you or give you the number on request, so you can keep an eye on its delivery.
What if I miss something off my order or make a mistake?
As long as you realise quickly and let us know, we can normally amend it. However, if it has already been despatched, you may incur a second delivery charge. Please ring us as soon as possible, we may be arrange to send you a missing item in the post.
Do you welcome suggestions for new stock items?
Yes, very much. If there is something not on our list that you'd like to see, and other people feel the same, then we would be more than happy to look into stocking it.
Do you employ Danish staff or speak Danish?
Yes, some of the team are Danish, including Vivian who heads up the department. We also would welcome enquiries from any Danish people who live in the local area, who might be interested in any part or full time vacancies we may have from time to time.
Do all your fish/herrings and meat have to be kept in a fridge?
Yes ideally. Where we state it is a chilled product, you should not store them anywhere that goes above 8 degrees Centigrade. If you choose to store them in a larder instead, it will be at your own discretion.
What should I do if I suspect anything has gone off before it's best before date?
Providing it has been stored correctly, please contact us immediately on 01234 888788 so that we can arrange a replacement. Many items, particularly dried ones, will usually be fine even past their 'best before' date. After all, it is only a recommendation.
What is the newsletter about?
We usually send out e-newsletters once or twice a month. They tend to focus on relevant news, new product launches, stock updates, special offers and handy recipes, or anything else we feel you may like to know. If there is something else you'd like to see included, please get in touch. We always welcome constructive suggestions. In addition, we send our our printed price lists quarterly, together with details of any special promotions we have at the time. We try to get the balance right, by not bombarding you with mail but making sure you don't miss out on any of your favourite items.
I received a survey request from you recently. How often do you do this and do you actually do anything with the results?
We like to do this once or twice a year, just to make sure we are getting it right for you. And most definitely we act upon the results, where we feel it is most appropriate. We constantly strive to improve where we can, in terms of our offering and our service. After all, there would be no point in taking your time up otherwise.
